In order to portray the kind of graphic mayhem that would become SpaceJack, I realized early on that I would need to write an executable for a specific computer OS rather than as a web applet. Taking advantage of Microsoft Windows DirectDraw and DirectSound, Spacejack is a throbbing arcade actioner that will give you flashbacks to the early 80's powered by your modern-day PC technology.

Recordings and high scores coming soon..

Downloading and Installing

Requires: A PC running Microsoft Windows (95,98,ME,NT,2000 all supported) and a few megs of hard disk space.

Click on the above link, and save the file sj098.zip to your hard drive somwhere. Once the download is complete, use WinZip to open the file (or double-click on the file itself) and extract the files to a sensible location (eg: C:\Program Files\SpaceJack). Then exit WinZip and open the folder you extracted to. Double-click the SpaceJack.exe program icon and the game will start up! Click on the "Preferences" button to view or change the game controls. Click the "Info" button to view the readme with more detailed instructions and info about the game.

Note (NVidia video card owners): NVidia cards seem to be exceptionally slow when it comes to doing palette animations, which unfortunately SpaceJack uses a lot of. Some NVidia cards will therefore play at unacceptable framerates (like less than 10fps) when using 8-bit color. To fix this, go to SpaceJack's preferences menu and choose 16 or higher color depth, or run it in a window. You won't get the cycling color eye candy (which is just trim, really), but the game will play smoothly.
